For operations out of short fields the APE STOL greatly enhances the payload capability and operational flexibility of the 402C.  The improved performance results in the significant advantage of the APE STOL for 402C operations as shown in the WAT chart below (Weight-Altitude-Temperature). 

• Increased Landing Payload.  For the example airfield near sea level, the APE STOL increases payload by over 3000 lb at the hot temperatures typical for many 402C operations at BCAR K2-5 requirements.
